In a strategic partnership, OnRobot and ProPal Robotics launch the ProPal20 and ProPal20L, an off-the-shelf collaborative robotic palletising solution designed to revolutionise automation for Singapore’s SMEs.

OnRobot, a global leader in collaborative robot (cobot) applications, has teamed up with Singapore-based ProPal Robotics to bring a cutting-edge robotic palletiser solution to the local market. The ProPal20 and ProPal20L, powered by OnRobot’s innovative D: PLOY platform, represent a breakthrough in automation, specifically designed to address the challenges faced by Singapore’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
With 99% of Singapore’s enterprises classified as SMEs, many face difficulties in attracting skilled talent and handling labour shortages, especially as the nation’s workforce ages. Traditional automation solutions have been costly and complex, requiring significant investment and technical expertise. According to James Taylor, COO of OnRobot, these factors often prevent SMEs from embracing automation. “Automation is the logical solution to workforce challenges, but many SMEs lack the resources for custom-built robotic systems,” Taylor explains.

Enter the ProPal20 and ProPal20L, collaborative palletising robots that eliminate the need for extensive programming and custom engineering. Thanks to D: PLOY, OnRobot’s versatile automation platform, the robots can be installed and operational within a day, with no technical expertise required. Operators can switch between box sizes and configurations in mere minutes, allowing seamless adjustments to production lines without disruptions. The ProPal20 can handle up to 12kg per case and process up to eight boxes per minute, offering a fast and efficient palletising solution that boosts productivity.

The robotic systems are equipped with JAKA Zu20 cobots, OnRobot VGP20 grippers, and controlled by OR:BASE, a modular compute box that simplifies both power and connectivity management. This ensures SMEs can automate complex tasks such as palletising, material handling, and assembly without the need for a dedicated engineering team.
Charles Toh, Sales Manager for ProPal Robotics, highlights the accessibility of the solution for local manufacturers. “With the ProPal20 series, we’re lowering the barriers to automation, making it feasible for SMEs that have been held back by high costs and the lack of programming expertise,” he said.
The partnership between OnRobot and ProPal Robotics marks a significant step forward for Singapore’s manufacturing landscape, promising to redefine how SMEs approach automation. With this cost-effective, plug-and-play solution, businesses can optimise their operations and stay competitive in a fast-changing market.
